found a 65 and I have a couple questions...

Let me start off by saying that I grew up in the suburbs near D/FW Airport. There really isn't much "open" land around here. Anyway there is one farm, smack dab in the middle of all the cookie cutter houses. I stopped by there today and talked with the gentleman that owns the farm while he was running his tracter in the field.

Anyway to make a long story short, he has an old 42 Dodge truck in one of his barns that you can just see from the road and I wanted to ask what he was going to do with it. Turns out he wants to sell it for 1500 obo, then he mentioned that he had a 65 chevy in another barn and told me to go take a look at it. He wants 1500 obo for it also.

Really, both trucks really look like they are in good shape, minus tires and glass. The 65 had an unusual hood ornament that I haven't seen on our truck and was wondering if any of you know what it is from.

Re: found a 65 and I have a couple questions...

..I know this is going to sound really bizzare but those artillary wheels on there (if all four are presant)are worth more than what he is asking for that truck!!!restorers and the "bomb" builders are always looking for them.you could finance part of your build with those,or just make back some if not ALL of the purchase price...that's just my 2 cents worth....

Re: found a 65 and I have a couple questions...

I noticed the artillery wheels too. I know another guy who has them on his old 66. HE's 70 and has no idea what ppl are giving for those either.

Re: found a 65 and I have a couple questions...

I agree with the above guys about buying the truck and selling the wheels to help finance the truck. The truck ought to be real solid.
