Rogue horn
This just started up about last week...I noticed driving around here in St. Louis the horn would occasionally honk while turning the wheel. Occasionally. Then lastnight it'd do it just going forward. Position of wheel, tilt or turned, didn't matter, so I yanked the connector off the horn.
'bout the last damn thing I need in a big city, having my truck honk at random people. |

Re: Rogue horn
D-day. After you check under the steering wheel or while your there, check the wireing that comes up the colunm. It has tilt & if you use it wires in there get chafed. I think you will find the problem is in the wheel wireing before the relay. Relay is a "ground switched circut". The relay powers the horn units, the horn button Grounds the relay, so any short to ground in the horn button circut will fire the horns. jim

Re: Rogue horn
I suspect it's behind your steering wheel associated with the turn signal cam. I would pull the steering wheel and horn and look for a broken/ worn out horn & cancel cam plastic housing. If it's torn or shredded in any way the lever on your turn signal can make contact with the copper ring under the horn ring/ canceling cam. I put in a cheap after market turn lever and it made contact with this until I got a better made one.

Re: Rogue horn
Yeah...the turn signal assembly needs replaced too. Guess it just needs to be replaced.
I don't know why I always ask redundant questions here. |
