3/4 ton axles on a 1/2 ton?
I have an 86 blazer that my dad robbed the axles off of. I also have a 89 3/4 ton suburban with a bent frame.
I want to build up the blazer frame with a 66 cab and box I have. I am wondering if the axles off of the 3/4 ton will just bolt right on? Or the axles and springs? Ideally if I could use the tranny transfer case, and front driveshaft that would be better too.... Any suggestions- tips? Last edited by jonzcustomshop; 01-28-2009 at 03:21 AM. Re: 3/4 ton axles on a 1/2 ton?
only problem i forese is having a short-short bed, because the blazer wheelbase is shorter than a standard shortbed truck. But, as far as axles go, i beleive a set of 3/4 ton axles have the same leaf perches and distance apart, but dont quote me on this.

Pretty sure the axles will bolt right on. Driveshafts will be the only thing you will have to change.

Everything (including shocks) bolts in, front driveshaft is the same, rear burb shaft is too long.

Re: 3/4 ton axles on a 1/2 ton?
thats good news.
yes the bed will be real short. I am hoping to use this as a plow truck, and I think the short wb will help in the tight spots, the 66 stuff.. just so it will look good while I am doing it would the 1/2 ton driveshaft out of the blazer bolt up to the 3/4 ton rear, and sub transfer case? |

No, the length is right, joints are wrong... The yokes for the axle and t-case would be 1350 and your driveshaft is 1310. You'd either have to buy different yokes for the t-case and rear end or run a 1310 to 1350 conversion joint. Dana Spicer part number is 5-460X or 1-0134 at Advance Auto parts.
