Cab floor/firewall question
Is the cab floor welded to the firewall?
I just noticed that I can move the bottom of the firewall away from the floor. Everyday I find more and more rust on this hunk o crap.

Re: Cab floor/firewall question
I would assume that is not normal. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will chime in

Re: Cab floor/firewall question
there is a pinch weld where the floor pan turns upward to meet the firewall ... it should be spot-welded solid where there is NO movement.

Re: Cab floor/firewall question
Like this... spot welds every two inches or so... this is the bottom of the firewall where with the cab on it's back

Re: Cab floor/firewall question
Can this be rewelded with the cab on and engine in place.

Re: Cab floor/firewall question
It could but I would cover the engine/tranny with a blanket and weld from the inside. EBfabman always welds the inside seam in addition to the spot welds shown in my pics.
Is it rotted? any pics?

Re: Cab floor/firewall question
I haven't gotten into it very far. I was looking at how bad my left kick panel is when I noticed it. I try to get some pictures later on this week.
I'm starting to get real discouraged about this truck.

Re: Cab floor/firewall question
If the floor and supports are bad I would really look at the full floor with supports you can buy. Saves alot of headaches trying to piece it together. There are a few pics of it in my build thread.

Re: Cab floor/firewall question
My only problem with that is I have no way to remove the cab.

or rig an engine hoist, or hand it from the garage or a tree... take the doors off and the seat out and you only have a 300lb brick then.
