does anyone know where the vin plate is on 79 gmc 1/2 4 wheel drive. my 86 has it on the left side top of dash, but i cant find anything on my 79

Your 79 should have it there also, unless the cab was changed to a 73-78 or you have a 73-78 pad in the truck covering the VIN. 73-78 vin's can be found in the drivers door jamb.
