Re: New NorthWest member and my new to me 63.
Ok, new pics!
What am I missing here? Do I need to search for a specific breather filter? I'm guessing this tag is original? Here's the VIN: Some interior shots: |

Re: New NorthWest member and my new to me 63.
The bed is rough, but I have a new rail set and screws to put in new wood:
Tail: And passenger side which I didn't post earlier: Does anyone have any idea what this tag means? It's upside down on the drivers fender: That's pretty much it I guess till I start working on it. Thanks for viewing! Slim. |

Re: New NorthWest member and my new to me 63.
Wow that is in nice condition.
I'm so bad I was trying to discover what area you lived in based on the few pictures. hahahaha Heres a link to a VIN tag decoder so you can look it up. Not much but the obvious stuff, but fun none the less. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cbe/images/0008.jpg I used it when I first got my truck and realized that my motor couldn't of been a 250 for the year and I went on a research trek and found out that I had a 66motor. Looking around and finding this site http://www.classicbowtie.com/new/195...es-and-Ads.htm It says your truck should be a green color. 1963 factory paint codes 500 Jet Black 502 Sea-Mist Jade 503 Glenwood Green 505 Woodland Green 507 Brigade Blue 508 Balboa Blue 510 Crystal Turquoise 514 Cardinal Red 516 Omaha Orange 519 Yuma Yellow 521 Pure White 522 Georgian Gray 526 Cameo White 528 Desert Beige Heres a step side I found that well seems to match your paint code. http://mattstruck.blogspot.com/2009/...evy-truck.html Last edited by kizer; 02-12-2009 at 12:33 PM. |

Re: New NorthWest member and my new to me 63.
Exactly what I did. When I bought mine and the seller said it had a 250 and after some research after looking at that build tag image I posted up above it was obvious mine didn't come with that size.
I went and visited http://www.inliners.org/ because they are some serious I6 knowing guys. There are some numbers on the block that help you find what your looking for. |

Thanks, From the number on my block (392168) it says Chevy/Olds 64-76 230-250c.i. So I'm guessing then that this is not the original engine? |

Re: New NorthWest member and my new to me 63.
Update:
Today I went out and got a new Cap-rotor-points, a good battery that's fully charged and went out and took her for a drive. It runs pretty good but the carb needs work. I have forgotten what little I knew about carbs a long time ago. It runs pretty good unless you lug it at all, then it falls on it's face (accelerator pump?) and the idle is very intermittent, sometimes it does just fine then others it just dies after putting the clutch in. It needs some front end work for sure. Steering box seems like an old girlfriend of mine (and she was very popular with the boys) but it drives fairly well. Anyone have any idea if they still sell the brake light switch in the auto stores still? No brake lights, I'm going out to play with that next. I also need a passenger side wiper arm. The spring is broken. I missed out on an assembly on Ebay, arms, rods and motor that was sold with only one bid on it. I'm really excited now that I got to drive it around a bit today! |

Re: New NorthWest member and my new to me 63.
Well if its a 63 correct me if I'm wrong the 250's didn't come out until 66 and wasn't the 235's in rigs around 60-62. Well if your Block number says its a 64-76 250 I'd guess its not the original. Welcome to the club haha.
Worst case and I might say almost a sure thing is to contact Tony whos in post #26. He takes em a part and gives parts new homes. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...1&postcount=26 |
