Someone on here posted about how they'd turned a cig lighter into a kill switch. Lighter element in the socket, the truck starts, lighter element out, it doesn't start. I was gonna toy with that sometime, but I like your cargo light idea better.

There's some good ideas in this thread. I have a hidden switch under my dash that kills the power to my airride, so when its switched off the compressor wont run and the valves wont work so you cant air it up. It also comes in handy if I have to let someone else drive my truck, I can air it up, then cut the power to the switch box to keep them from "playing" with it.

I like the idea of choke knob as kill switch.

I used the choke knob to switch my FlexALite "hotrod heater" which is under my dash.

I'm like more proud of that damn choke knob than any of the other seriously hard stuff I've done to muh truck!

It must really suck to live where vehicles get stolen like that. I guess my theft deterent was always "if they think they can drive this lifted 4-speed beast, then let 'em try"

Figured out how to do it, and it's slick. Just buy a new switch from radio shack hat looks closest to the original). Pull the cargo light off, and unplug the OE switch and cut off the connectors, and wire them together. Remove the OE switch and get your new one ready. May have to cut the screw holes on the switch to get it to be the same width as the holes on the cargo light switch plate. Fish a pair of wires down the B pillar. Speaker wire would be good. Solder them to the switch, and put the cargo light and switch bits back together. Run one wire to the TACH side of the HEI dizzy, and the other wire to a ground. And done.

When the switch is turned on, it grounds the HEI and it cuts the ignition.

Might do it soon, was just planning it today.

Awesome idea !!! I've fabricated an inside hood release, mounted the pull lever up high by the drivers fresh air vent. Every little theft deterrent helps IMO.

Which is why I some-what prefer mechanically killing the truck. I also have some electric tricks that kill power to the cab entirely. At night, even if you did hot wire it under the hood, you'd still have no head lights or tail lights, thus getting pulled over wouldn't take too long.

Want to wire a kill switch for the starter's power cable, and some sort of fuel cut-off.. Just make it hard as hell when I go into down town for "fun".

Can't get it out of Park either when I leave it.
