1954 Stand Trans to Auto Trans Conver

My Uncle has a 1954 Chev that he just picked up & he is like a kid with a new toy. He absolutely loves it. It has a 235 with the old 4 speed trans. He is 75 yrs old & the clutch is wearing out his old leg. He wants to put a powerglide or a turbo 400 0r 350 in it. Will one of these auto trans bolt right up or is there an adapter that is required? Any info or photos are appreciated.:

Re: 1954 Stand Trans to Auto Trans Conver

If there is one these guys make it: Wilcap. I looked at the site quickly and did not see one but here is the email link
pmcguire@wilcap.com <pmcguire@wilcap.com>
You should go over to stovebolt.com and do a search and post the same question.

Later: found this site: http://www.stoveboltengineco.com/howto/trans.htm

Doesn't have a price online but there is a phone number.

Re: 1954 Stand Trans to Auto Trans Conver

Someone does make an adapter because these older engines and newer transmissions don't bolt up with out help. Last summer at a car show there was a 52 3100 that had a 235 with a 700r4 behind it. I never could track down the owner to ask questions but there was some sort of adapter there.
