Wipers "Trying" not to park

I'm not sure if this is against the rules or not, but I first posted this in the electrical section and got limited replies so I thought I'd repost it here. If I did wrong, I'm sorry. Anyway, here's the original post:

Here's the deal:

I'm dealing with my 1984 C10 plain Jane pickup with no frills (or intermittent wipers).

I first noticed the problem when I had half of my cowling apart during a windshield replacement. Here's what happened: When I plugged the wiper motor back in with no arms attached, the wipers continued to run, although very slowly, when I turned the switch off. They would, of course, stop when I switched the key off.

I assumed it was a park circuit problem and replaced the wiper motor (yes, with a rebuilt). I didn't try the wipers without the arms afterward because they were already reattached when I swapped the wiper motor out.

Apparently, it's still the same. When I'm driving and "pulse" the wipers for one quick swipe, they go slightly past the "park" position and stop about 2 inches up from the bottom of the stroke. Sometimes 1 inch--Sometimes 3.

Any ideas? It's obvious that I've thrown my money away on a wiper motor that I probably didn't need to replace in the first place. Either that or both motors were bad. What else could be the problem? I did notice a wire that has been altered on one of the wiper motor plugins, but I don't know what or why it was done. It looks like someone used it to tap into something else at one time.

have you tried to take the wiper arms completely off and repositioning them to the correct off position?

I guess both motors could be bad the same way. I guess that serves me right for buying reman...

The problem has been fixed!

True to the average GM pickup truck, I suffered from a ground issue. It all boiled down to that one, stupid braided ground strap that GM decided would be all we need to successfully connect the ground between our firewalls and engine blocks.

'Lo and behold, mine wasn't even connected.

The wipers now make nice, quick sweeps and stop where they're supposed to stop.

It kinda makes me wonder if that was the problem with my old 65 C10 that I had several years ago...

I was referring to this comment-Uhh... Apparently you missed the part where it says they're going past the bottom park position and coming back up...?

Okay, this is ridiculous.

I can't believe that I got part of my post edited out because during a reply From Fast75 he took the liberty of putting the word apparently in italics? Like I was sneering at him? Not!

Look, I'm admittedly not any smarter than the next guy, but I use the word apparently a lot in everyday conversation. If I prefaced every single line I ever replied to with, "No offense, but..." and then replied to someone, that could be misinterpreted just as easily could it not? It's call voice inflection, and as we all know, voice inflection can make or break everything that someone says. It doesn't work quite the same in printed word. Don't assume someone means to spew harm and put evil, sneering voice inflection to their printed word.

I was an English major in school, and it haunts me when I read forums. I have to look the other way during all of the things I see on this and any other forum that make an anal person like myself wince: People that don't punctuate their replies, people that don't know the difference between their and there and they're, and the blatant misuse of apostrophe's. Does it matter? Hell no. We are here because we share a common interest. Trucks.

I just can't believe you took that line out of my post because it was offensive. It rendered the whole thing unreadable to someone that just read it for the first time.

I see remarks on here all the time about something someone bought or did that could be offensive to somebody if they read it wrong. Chances are, any line in any post on any website would be offensive to someone.

It seems weird when a person has to walk on eggshells and watch their mouth around a bunch of car guys and gearheads. It's just another example of political correctness run amok.

Again, I'm sorry if I caused someone unintentional tears.

I think I read it just as it was intended. It was reported by a member (not fast75) so we can assume that I was not the only one that took it that way.
