Liftgate Braces ???
I'm not sure what to call them. Are the the two retracting braces that hold up the liftgate the same as the braces that hold open the barn doors?
The ones on the barn doors of the 72 I just got don't catch. But my buddy has some braces on a liftgate in TX he can send me if they are the same. Thanks

Re: Liftgate Braces ???
The brackets that attach them to are different.

Re: Liftgate Braces ???
Thanks Hartrod. Too bad though.
Rokcrln, thanks, but if they can be rebuilt I probably want to look at that next. Did you rebuild yours, or have someone do it? Thanks

Re: Liftgate Braces ???
You should see if you can adapt gas struts instead. I have seen them on the lift hatch before.

Re: Liftgate Braces ???
That's what I put on mine. I can get some pictures and info. I think there was a thread on it also some time ago.

Re: Liftgate Braces ???
Thanks all. I'll definitely check into the struts, has anyone already done this with the barn doors?

Re: Liftgate Braces ???
So how far are the barn doors supposed to open? Mine are basically perpendicular with the suburban when fully open. Although they do not hit the lights (like I originally thought they would).

Re: Liftgate Braces ???
On first open they go 90* then you close them a bit and re-open and they go about 160* The braces have two stops.

Re: Liftgate Braces ???
Thanks Kevin. This is good news, that's how my driver side door works. Passenger side needs help though.
Thanks again.
