hooking up tach where?
ok i found an old tach harness wire in to it and i get no tach signal it gets power and lights up so what wire goes to the tach signal o the dizzy? and where is the tach signal? i have a HEI non computer controled the wire colors are white,red,black, and green i think it's the green wire becuase it is the longest out of all of them. the tach is a sun pro 2"-3"

it should be the green one, at least with autometer tachs thats the case... that green wire plugs into the tach terminal on the hei distributor. i hope this helps, tom

if youre looking at the distributor cap you will see its obviously round. see where that square, thing that (should) be on the driver side of the cap.. thats where the module and power hook from the distributor to the cap.. if you clean off the top of that square part you will see where it says "tach".. thats where the green wire goes, use a female spade connector and youre dialed..

yup thanks it is hooked up and working fine got the idle set on the truck and the idle scwers idles at 650 rpm and no more smoke at idle (revving it up is another story)

dude your idle is too low you need to set it at 900 and your timing should be at 12 degrees advanced just thought i say something. cause i just re built my motor and the tag on the radiator support said it all to me i have a manual trans and my timing is to be 8 degrees advanced and idle at 900 and mine runs sweet.
