Well I ordered my C4 DM, so I guess I'm a DM equipped to be.

Make sure you take plenty of picture and keep us posted on the progress.

It's a pretty straight forward installation (unless your buddies w/SD ).

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

I've dealt w/them too. I was takin' a little poke @ the guy that purchased 'the' DM that became the focus of debate when SD introduced their dropped crossmember. He alluded that he had a difficult time w/the installation of 'the' DM which was one of the reasons why he turned to SD for help......

I did mine w/no issues so ask away if you come across something & we'll get you fixed up quickly. Of course it goes w/o saying, take lots of pics or you'll face the 'wrath' of more than one board member .

Heck.... I bought my 74 w/the insurance check received for my 68 when it was totaled. I only planned to drive it while putting my 68 back together but now I just can't talk myself into letting it go.

One day, I'll try for the hat-trick..... a 67-72, a 73-87, & a 60-66. (gotta represent properly ).

There were still losts of 81-82's running around w/single square headlight set-ups. I think it was the 82-83 transition where everything was quad lights.

Re: DROPMEMBER equipped 73-87. Post here!!!

i believe 81 was the first years of the 4 light in the silverado package.
square light were still around though.
the square light stayed on until 98 i think in the w/t (booty) models.

Re: DROPMEMBER equipped 73-87. Post here!!!

To clarify 73-79 was all round headlight. The first year for single square was 1980 but that was Silverado. It retained the "rounded line" fenders, but started the transition to square headlights.

The 81-87's were all square and was the first year of the "square body" design. Silverado's had quad squares.

Here's a couple pics for reference...
