Selecting Rear Bags, Need help

I am finally going ahead with baggin my '69 pickup. Since it is my DD i have to do the install in phases. I am going to start with the rear and i need some help selecting the right bags for my needs.
I am baggin the truck becasue i want the stance and ride comfort of bags, but i also want the ability of leveling a load since i still haul heavy loads from time to time. I already have a ECE 2/4 static drop installed. i plan on c-notching the frame as well.

I was looking at the firestone or air ride bags. Can anyone tell me which ones will be best for the added pressure of handling a heavy load?

Re: Selecting Rear Bags, Need help

I have the firestone 2600's in the back of my 66. I also had a similar static drop on my truck and wanted to be able to raise the truck to tow my boat. It is a 21' boat and weighs about 5k. They work great!

thanks derider. i am leaning towards the firestone 2600's in the back. thats what i was needing to hear.

i will typically be hauling a yard of dirt and it sets me on the frame every time.

Re: Selecting Rear Bags, Need help

Can you tell me the hieght range of the 2600's? I want to keep my same ride height and the springs are 7.5" (trailing arm to frame) tall when measured on flat ground.

Do you have 2600's only in the rear or all four corners?

Re: Selecting Rear Bags, Need help

How much tank do i need?

I do not plan lowering or raising the truck very often. i want to set it where i like it and then only change it when i am hauling. Would a smaller 3 or 4 gallon compressor work well, or do i need 5-6 gallons?

Re: Selecting Rear Bags, Need help

when i just had rear bags all i had was this airlift compressor /kit/gauge. i think the whole thing goes for $240. it worked fine and you do not need a tank. jmo

Re: Selecting Rear Bags, Need help

eff that. i would rather manually fill than use that thing. waste of 240 imo.
i would probably just get 2 valves, a tank, and a schrader to fill the tank. cheaper, and you can just add to it later when you upgrade.

Re: Selecting Rear Bags, Need help

i kind of like edflores idea. but i can think of situations that i would regret not having a compressor. I was looking at the pancake style tanks. i think it would fit better under the bad.

Did anyone take advantage of the special on AirLift 2600 bags for $249?

I was thinking about making that purchase next week.
