Greg Weld Wheels are a Joke

Well as most of you have seen in some of my pics I had posted I had bought Greg Weld rims for the front of the truck and was waiting for them to come out of back order, and come back in stock so I could order the back rims. Well I finally got the back rims yesterday they were 15x12 with a 6 inch backspace and they were a sweet set of rims, so I go to put them on the truck and I can't get them to clear the caliper, I am running a wilwood disk brake setup, and the wheel wouldn't clear it by and 1inch and a half, so now I am getting extremely fustrated now, and call greg weld the one line is disconected and the other line is constantanly busy. So I call Jims Racing Tires where I bough them from and he gives me the number to the guy thats in charge, and start playing phone tag with him, he tells me that the 15x12 or the 15x14 are not designed to work with wilwood or other racing brake companies and they designed the rim wrong, He said they should have a new wheel to work with these brakes in 3 months, he told me I could have my brakes cut down, but I am not going to cut a brand new kit thats stupid. I waited 6 months for these rims to come back instock and they don't fit cause everyone told me they would fit I have ran weld racing rims and centerlines before and they clear the brakes fine. So after all the BS I am sending the back rims back and buying weld racing rims, and I guese I will have to sell the fronts, I am sorry to say this but Greg Weld is a Joke there customer service stinks, and if nobody noticed summit racing dropped them as a vendor. I will never buy from them again.

Re: Greg Weld Wheels are a Joke

According to Google Greg Weld died last Aug, maybe this could have something to do with your issue?
Eitherway hope you get it all resolved.

Re: Greg Weld Wheels are a Joke

Yes he did die and the company is actually is on the brink of going out of business but three people are trying to keep it alive and get the new wheels into production. After it was all said and done I didn't really loose to much money on it I am just upset that I waited 6 months for these rims and they didn't fit when everyone said they would. But I ended up just ordering a set of weld racing rims today. I guess I will just run the front set for a while until someone buys them.

Re: Greg Weld Wheels are a Joke

Greg Weld Racing no longer exists. They had a liquidation auction a few weeks ago and sold all remaining assets including all remaining wheel inventory, office furniture/equip etc. Bummer to hear about your situation, I'm kinda in the same boat. I've got GW racelites for the front of my camaro and was waiting for the right size rears to come out. Now that they'll never be, I'm just gonna run pro-stars on the rear. They actually match pretty well and look just fine to me.

Re: Greg Weld Wheels are a Joke

I hope the Greg weld stars on the front of truck and the weld racing stars on the back look alright together for now cause I am on a tight budget to get this truck done right now. If you Google Jims racing Tires he has about 160 sets of Greg welds in stock as far as if they will fit what your camaro I couldn't tell you that Mike Ravish the guy in charge of Greg Weld right now said the 15x12 or 15x14 won't fit a rotor and caliper bigger the 12.5 inches.
