Hood hinge relocation brackets!!!!

Figured I would post up some pics of the hood hinge brackets I build for the 60-66 trucks. These brackets allow you to use your factory hood hinges once the factory inners have been removed for more tire clearance.

If you're intending to lay frame, these will only work with up to a 27" tall tire. At this drop, it will also be necessary to remove the factory spring, trim the lower hinge arm, and rig up a gas charged strut. The brackets also come with the tabs that mount to the core support in case you want to incorporate some tubing.

They run $200 shipped anywhere in the continental U.S.

Re: Hood hinge relocation brackets!!!!

Nice pieces !!

To clarify, could you still run the factory springs if someone wanted....Would they then hook off the tubing ?

Good work !!!

I am sure they could be, but never looked into that option.

Re: Hood hinge relocation brackets!!!!

Those look nice. Is it wrong to start picturing a truck built because of something as simple as a bracket?

Re: Hood hinge relocation brackets!!!!

Yeah do you have any shots with the hood on/or the strut in place?

Ok, silly question time what if your not running tubing what holds the core support in place. Just the fenders? I'm just picturing it all in my head. Sorry for going a bit off topic. However I do like this idea because I have some rotted inner fenders and I'm brain storming and of course I'd end up needing these brackets.

Re: Hood hinge relocation brackets!!!!

Never got a reply from porter but i have his hood hinge kit. Bent my own tubing and used one of his flanges that i cut in half and welded on the bottom side of the tubing. This is my gas shock mount. It took some patiences to get the right angle and shocks strong enough to hold the hood up but once i got the right combo works really good. I don't have the shock number here at work but have the paperwork at home. I got them at autozone. I have a 66 gmc burban running 18 & 20's

Re: Hood hinge relocation brackets!!!!

Core support is held by the fenders and being bolted to the frame. It is still a pretty solid set up. The tubing gives it more support and looks cool as well.
