Post 62 rearend

I am pro streeting my 62, which has the stock 10-bolt, 6 lug rear in it. I have no idea of the ratio (any idea how I'd find out?) and I was wondering if it's worth keeping or not. It is the right width for the wheels I have, but I would need to find a way to change it to a 5-bolt pattern to match the front 72 suspension. Has any body had any experience with these rearends, are they strong enough for daily driving and limited strip use? How hard will it be to rebuild? Is this thing worth my time, or should I start looking for an 8 or 9 inch to slide under it?
