Re: GMC "Custom" door emblems

My 72 Jimmy has them on the doors above the handle. Mine is a 2wd Cheyanne package truck. I had the emblems rechromed by Sherms plating in Sacramento... they look like new now.

Re: GMC "Custom" door emblems

I have seen them on plenty of trucks. At swap meets, you can find them easily.

These are on my '72

I have a '69 GMC Custom Camper (longhorn) that has just the "Custom" above the door handle. No mention of the "camper". I have looked at he inside of the door and can not find any evidence that 'camper' was ever there. The doors on the truck are original to the truck.

Any ideas?

Is Custom or Custom Camper listed on the SPID?

Re: GMC "Custom" door emblems

You know, I've had the truck for 5 years now and never looked to see if the SPID was still there. When I get home I will take a look and snap a pic to post.
I will also see if I have any pics from when I bought it from a gentleman in Nebraska.

Blazers & Jimmys didn't follow the same trim level theme as trucks. Neither did Suburbans for that matter. A Custom Jimmy or CST Blazer is top of the line. A Custom GMC or Chevy truck is mid-level (67-70) and a base in 71/72.

The 133" wb GMC Custom Camper is the same thing as a Chevy Longhorn. That's the model, not an option...just like longbed or shortbed. Your truck has the Custom trim level option.

Maybe the Custom Camper style, but probably not the older GMC style.

Note how my 67 GMC in the top photo below is a little different than spinning wheels truck, especially in the length of the C, t, and tail on m. Where's the geek smiley? Mounts might be different too, I'm not sure.
