setting timing with crank trigger
trying to set the timing with a crank trigger i am running a 84697 dist and msd 8620 crank trigger i put it on #1 tdc i have the rotor line up with 1 cyl on the cap the i have the pick up in the center of the magnet i have the balancer on 36deg tdc i tryed to move the pick up silder both ways it gets a little better when i slide up to the motor its still back fires through the carb

Are you SURE your on TDC #1 COMPRESSION stroke? Pull #1 plug and rotate the motor till you feel the compression building, roll it up to 36 degrees. Make sure magnets line up. Make sure rotor and #1 plug tower on the cap line up. That's all there is to it.

i had some on bump it over i had my finger on #1 hole when i felt the air blowen out i look 1 is lined up with cap and the magnets line ill double check may be i am going to far with the comp stroke

dont know anthing bout a crank trigger setup, but from the way your talking it sounds like i needs more timing. have you checked to make sure TDC on the balancer lines up with TDC on the #1 piston? Chris.

ii am running 38deg on intial timing and 36 deg on total dont know if thats to much timing 13 to1 805 inch soild cam
