Re: 72 gmc to 72 chevy?
No,the outer lights are located wider than 69-72s...different core support. The lights are located in the 67/68 chevy locations.

Re: 72 gmc to 72 chevy?
You are best off swapping the whole front clip as one piece. Fenders, hood, core support, grill... and you'll need the bumper too.
The grill core support and bumper are obviouse after 2 seconds of inspection time. The GMC hood would have the holes for the lettering, nothing at all drilled on the Chevy. The fenders are not the same, they look it at a glance, but they aren't. Don't forget a tailgate, badges, glove box emblim, console lid emblim (if aplicable) horn button, and hub caps for your identification swap. You'll catch flack no matter what you do. If you leave it GMC, then a bunch of the chevy guys will tell you it's the ugly 4 eyed suster. If you make it a chevy, then many of us will say you are removing the sexy added brightwork and making it a belly button truck... kinda like painting a 69 camaro red. Who hasn't seen that? In the end, screw what they/we say. Make your baby your dream truck Last edited by Longhorn Man; 05-17-2009 at 10:49 AM. |

Re: 72 gmc to 72 chevy?
He could if he cut the inner light mounts off.
Core supports go like this: Chevy... 67/68 grille fits 67/68 supports & have mounting for 67/68 splash pan @ bottom 69/72 grilles fit 69/72 supports GMC... 67/72 grilles fit 67/72 supports 67/68 supports have mounting for 67/68 splash pan @ bottom 67/68 hood requires body panel @ top of grille. 69/72 hood requires 3pc. grille surround:fender brows & top bar Grilles/Hoods/Fenders: Chevy... 67/68(67 no marker in fender) 69/72 GMC... 67/72(67 no marker in fender).69/72 hood requires 3pc.surround.

Re: 72 gmc to 72 chevy?
I don`t know personally. But,I don`t see why not.The headlights are right, the fenders are the same. The latch may be ok.They are different from 67/68 to 68/72 and I`ve heard the latches only work with a hood from same application. The 69-72 core suorts won`t have the slash pan mounting wholes/threads.I`m sure that can be improvised.Just bear in mind, that area of the support is an enclosed box.

Re: 72 gmc to 72 chevy?
why not just keep it a GMC? if anything swap for a 68 grill. after all they perfected the whole look in 68. but then again I may be biased. LOL

Dont forget the chevy headlight parts, They are larger diameter than the GMC quads.
