I think he is just hating on anything custom. he going back stock with his ride and can't figure out why someone would put any extra time and money in these beauties.

Well said jjjmm56!!! My 58 has a Camaro clip under my truck and it drives and handles like a newer car. Let face it, these truck off the showroom floor were rough riding, handle like crap with all kinds of body roll and Fred Flintstone could stop in Flint mobile faster. Not to offend anyone with a stock truck, because I think they cool too, but when you put lots of ponies under the hood all of the above make for a safer more pleasurable driving truck. And last of all, they look way too sweat slammed on the ground.

Wow, way to oversimplify it. Not what I said at all. And who says all stock trucks looks the same? They don't. And with all the lifting and lowering going on, my stock truck is getting more unique every day.

I'm sorry I started this thread. I just wanted to know where this style came from and I got my answer. Now, it has turned into a pissing match. Mods, if you want to remove this thread, that's fine by me.

Not at all, you couldn't be further from the truth. And what does extra time and money have to do with it? You think putting everything back to stock is easy and cheap?

I have no problem with anything anyone does to their rides and I've not once said you should or shouldn't do it. All I've said is what I would or wouldn't do, no more, no less.

Re: What's the deal with lowering trucks?

I think it all comes down to a vehicle being a form of expression and I will go as far as to say "ART".

Why did the vehicle manufactureres change body styles over the years and add trim and other (non-performance or functionality oriented ) features onto their vehicles? It is because we like vehicles to do more than just their function. We enjoy their styling.

Paint was originally introduced to serve a simple purpose, and that purpose was NOT to be pretty. It was to resist corrosion.

Now most of us see paint as a means for color.

So to me your original question of why someone would lower a truck would be like asking someon why in the world they would paint a car or truck blue.

The answer would be :

"Well, simply because I like Blue"

I belive this thread has run it's course. I had hoped that it would get back to civil conversation, but it doesn't appear to be doing so.
