sleeved bags on rear links
I'm bagging my truck and I have enough space to run sleeved bags in the rear on the arms where the spring use to be.. I was wondering if there would pros and cons to this set up and if any one else has done this?? Also is there a website to get the specs on firestone air bags?? Thx in advance..

Re: sleeved bags on rear links
It's really best to avoid putting sleeve bags on a bar. They cannot handle the misalignment that comes with it. And you need to mount them close to the axle, because they can't handle too much leverage. I have plans on a way to do it, but it requires shackles and extra link bars to keep the bag straight through the entire travel of the suspension. Simply putting them on a link bar will stress them too much. They should be mounted directly to the axle.

Re: sleeved bags on rear links
Ya sleeve bags are the best for bag over axle and bag behind axle...

Re: sleeved bags on rear links
Im not trying to be negative and really apreciate the advise and responses but whats the diffrence between behind the axle and in front of the axle? I was lookinjg at some of the 18 wheelers at work and noticed that they have them in front and they are sleved and some are Double Convoluted bags...

Re: sleeved bags on rear links
There is no difference if they are mounted to a bracket that is welded to the axle. It reacts and rides the same, it just depends on what kind of space you have to put the bags.

Big trucks most likely have entirely different weight ranges for the size of the bags they have installed. I know we use some sleeve type bags on some of our automated palletizing equipment & dbl convoluted bags in other areas (freakin' huge dbl convoluted bags @ that).
