6 lug rotors and drop spindles??

I was curious if the 6 lug disk brake rotors from CPP would work on any aftermarket drop spindle for our trucks 71 and later? CPP says their 6 lug rotors will fit their drop spindles or stock 1971-72 and 1973-87 stock spindles..

Well if they work on stock spindles they should work on my aftermarket drop spindles too right??

I have DJM 3" spindles that work with all the stock brake parts for 1 1/4 rotors.

They just word it that way because they dont want you to buy someone elses spindle right?

http://www.classicperform.com/Store/...ruck/CP4R5.htm

Does anyone else carry these rotors?? I'd like to switch to 6 lug in the front.. Right now I have 5 lug rotors from a 85

Re: 6 lug rotors and drop spindles??

Wes & GMC Pauls both had 6-lug rotors as well as ECE. If the rotor will work on a stock 71-87 GM spindle, it will fit a drop spindle as well. The caveat is determining if the spindles are for 1.00" lt. duty brakes (avail from 81-87 IIRC) or the 1.25" HD brakes (71-87). Most of the 6-lug aftermarket rotors are of the 1.25" variety.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: 6 lug rotors and drop spindles??

I would stay away from the CPP, I've heard a lot of bad things about them lately. I bought mine from performanceonline.com and they were cheaper then CPP. Mine came with 2 1/2 drop from McGaughy. I got the SD crossmember with the 73-87 arms on my 64. I got my whole brake kit 3 days after I ordered it.

Re: 6 lug rotors and drop spindles??

does the ball joints bolt onto our Arms? and do you know the size of the spindle? I've been told that the 92 3/4 rotors bolt onto the 71-71 spindle!

You have to switch to a '63-'87 C20 lower control arm

No, the '88-'09 light duty 3/4 ton rotors won't work on the '69-'87 spindle.....they're close but the caliper won't line up with the rotor. You have to use the '88-'98 1/2 ton or light duty 3/4 ton spindle.

Re: 6 lug rotors and drop spindles??

no u will use the 88-93 spindle. use the 69-87 3/4 ton lower arms and stock upper. use the 88-93 ball joints. you will have to use the 1.25 spindle and rotor combo to keep six lug

88-98 is the same. From what I remember, the difference is single vs. ext. cab p/n's.

there were some threads about it in the forum feedback and suggestions section....people were getting pissed at the mods here and deleting every post they had ever made...it was a real headache for the forum staff....so a few bad apples....you know the rest
now you have like 5 minutes to edit then the option goes away....
