Billet grilles and hood latches.
Hey guys, im here and one of my first questions has to do with billet grilles and hood latches. I was wondering i were to buy one of those billet grilles for my 77, would i still be able to unlatch the hood from the outside, or would i need to get a latch that runs in to the cab to be able to open it?
Thanks, Cole Hey also does anyone have tips for uploading pics for avatars. I seem to be having problems there Last edited by Colesnsty68; 06-30-2009 at 11:46 PM. |

Re: Billet grilles and hood latches.
lmc and summit racing have billet grilles and for the latch if you have long skinny fingers then the latch under the hood will be fine

Re: Billet grilles and hood latches.
usually when you order the billet grilles from places like LMC truck they supply you with a new latch that mounts where the old one did. once you replace the latch with the new one it will hang by the bumper

Re: Billet grilles and hood latches.
You can reach through the grille - just be careful not to bend it. No new hood latch required.

Re: Billet grilles and hood latches.
3 if his is set up like mine is the hood latch is in the front behind the grille theres nothin inside to pop it open. and when i mean barely i mean it took me a few minutes to get enough force on my finger tips to push the handle up and not bent the round tube grille he has which looks like this which has more room for your fingers between the grille than a billet grille does

Re: Billet grilles and hood latches.
did you notice that the square grill has tabs on the top ? because i got the tube grill and it does not line up to the mounting bracket and it does not have any mounting tabs .

Re: Billet grilles and hood latches.
I have a billet grille from Carriage Works. The instructions disappeared a while ago, so my facts may not be correct but you should get my point. It came with a rod that I think hooks on the stock lever, hangs down and you can reach it behind the front bumper. I didn't have to use it as mine has a inside the cab release.
