Bucket seat install help
I bought some buckets and a console for my 79 camper special. 3/4 ton, 454. They came out of a 78 truck. When I went to put them in, the inside front corner bracket on both seats do not come close to touching the floor. The other corners are fine. Am I missing a floor bracket? Is there a fix? Thanks for the help.

Perfect. I was thinking of building something like that. Anybody make these brackets already?

Re: Bucket seat install help
Those brackets are hard to come by. I have never actually seen one. Everything you ever wanted to know about that setup is available here:

Exactly what you need and like everyone said they are HARD to come by. Keep your eye on IckBay. Thats where I scored my set. This guy scored them from a bone yard. Or if you have a bone yard near by. Just bring the correct tools and TAADAAA!

Re: Bucket seat install help
Here's a bad pic of the ones I have in my '78. They came out of a '91 suburban.
They were welded into the suburban. I cut out a the section of floor they were welded to with a cold chisel and then took it home where I could cut the bracket off the floor cleanly. Then drilled out the bolt holes and there it is. Last edited by 78 Chevyrado; 05-09-2009 at 02:27 PM. |

Re: Bucket seat install help
I just picked a set of 90 Suburban brackets today! I need to take off the floor welded to them and just bolt them on like you did. Thanks guys.

Re: Bucket seat install help
Thanks. I am trying to score the buckets and console from a buddy parting out a 80' Burb for my 82' SWB build. This was exactly the info I was looking for. I will post some pics when and if I get them installed

Re: Bucket seat install help
Picked up those buckets and the console but, I have to go back and get the brackets for the inside bolts. I didn't have anything handy on me to cut them out.
