best way to remove windshield
I have a front windshield I need to remove out of a cab. What is the best way about going to get it out without cracking?

Re: best way to remove windshield
get a razor/utility knive and cut the rubber off from around the windshield from the outside, and the glass will then come out, getting it back in with the new seal is a whole different story....

Re: best way to remove windshield
cut the rubber. unless the rubber is very soft {,probably not, }push firmly on glass in tom corner, at the same time folding inner lip of the rubber towards the ctr of the glass. be carefull, where gloves and glasses.best way is to cut the rubber.or have a glass shop come by and pull it for you.i was in lv in may i would have done it for free. iits really not hard.

Re: best way to remove windshield
Cut it out with a razor knife. Use a new Precision brand gasket! They are absolutely the best. Good luck!

Re: best way to remove windshield
I removed two last year and swapped them. On one the rubber was soft enough that two guys sitting in the cab we simply rolled the rubber inside and pushed it out with the rubber and windshield intact. The second had a very hard old rubber and I took a knife to the rubber on the outside of the windshield and cut it back to remove the windshield.
I doubt if you will lucky enough to find soft rubber and will have to cut. I was able to reuse the soft one and install the better windshield into the truck I was getting onto the road. Good luck

Re: best way to remove windshield
the chrome trim was not going to come off without destroying it thats for sure, either that or I did it wrong, but the rubber gasket I cut back to the edge of the window and had it off in about 5 minutes.
