anyone have gaylord tonneau cover?
i have a 2000 model year bed cover on my 55 2nd series and i just had both locks break on me within a week. i didnt do anything differently, one day i opened the lid and half the lock was sitting on the bed wood, a week later, the other one broke. turns out the shaft of the lock was made out of cast aluminum. has anyone had problems with their Gaylords locks? if so did you get a replacement? i emailed gaylords but no reply yet, and no one seems to sell cam locks for a 7/8" mounting hole. Thanks.

Try calling their techies. Talking to a living human will usually get an answer.

Re: anyone have gaylord tonneau cover?
I have one on my late 99 (new style) Chevy 2500. Had one break off last summer. haven't replaced it yet, that thing is on and off the bed so often its roosting in the garage now.
I had good luck with them though, whoever I talked to was a great help with a new 'weatherstrip' for it. |

Re: anyone have gaylord tonneau cover?
well i called them the other day, $75 for two cam locks I also called some other lock companies and no one really sells 7/8" cam locks i think i found some for the elevator industry but with the amount of fabrication it may take to get them to work its just easy to get them from Gaylord's.
from what Djs71 says it sounds like they are still making them out of cheap cast aluminum, you would think for the money they would be built more durable, oh well.
