Re: 64 V-8 engine Color?!!??!!

TimE,

Here are some pictures I have of a restored 64 C10 with a 230. Not sure of the color correctness though.

Thanks TexasC10. The pics are greatly appreciated. That gives me something that I can work with.

Re: 64 V-8 engine Color?!!??!!

So it looks like i'm going to rock the gray on my 350, but does anyone have advice on a brand of paint to search or a paint code for me? I'm having a hell of a time with my paint supplier locating a chevy gray engine enamel to spray with.

Last time I was at Autozone there was a dark gray universal type engine paint that looked very close. As few engines that where painted gray by GM I don't think you are going to find anything. Ford painted their engines gray for a while in the late 80's and early 90's but it was a much lighter gray.

Re: 64 V-8 engine Color?!!??!!

Just wondering what color green the 327 was and if anyone has pictures? I have a 327 block with a 350 crank (so it's a 350 I know) but making it look almost original would be cool.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: 64 V-8 engine Color?!!??!!

Anyone know if the GMC was any different than Chevy? My 64 GMC was and is a 230, so I'm assuming it was blue....

Re: 64 V-8 engine Color?!!??!!

I scored a set of 283 origiinal valve covers a couple years ago in a junkyard from a 4-5-6 truck and they were also dark grey...
