My '87 TBI missing....
I've done some research about this problem, but couldnt find a solution. This seems to be a common problem with the 1st gen TBI, and Im hoping someone here can help. The truck feels like its missing at normal operating temp at idle. TIA.

Re: My '87 TBI missing....
this was happening to my 90 once, couldnt figure it out, then, while spraying carb cleaner around the base to check for leaks, once it got to the front it stuttered, new gasket solvedit, might try this

The most common problem like this is the "EGR" valve sticking, what happens is the valve will not seat after opening , causing some exhaust gas to enter the intake manifold at idle. It will make the engine computer think it running rich. so as the engine leans down it runs worse. Off idle is ok , maybe even a little hesitation. You can check it but taking it off and cleaning it with carb cleaner or trying to visually inspected it , which is harder. If you really want to get into it you can make a block off plate / install a new gasket and see how it idles after. let me know what you find..... Desert |
