S-10 steering column in a 62

I was wondering if a S-10 steering column would work in a 62 so I had to find out today. Here is the end result. I havent wired it up yet, but it is secured in the truck.

Re: S-10 steering column in a 62

It was'nt hard, I used a combination of both support brackets, just alittle imagination and it went together pretty sweet, if you want i could take some pictures of underneath if you want

Heck yeah, post up pics!!!! I want to know more too, that column looks right at home in there. How about connecting it to the steering box? Have you gotten that done yet?

Re: S-10 steering column in a 62

OK the first picture is on the Driver side, and I used a section of the original support bracket, and the highbeam swith pluged right in ( altho I dont know if it works yet, because the cab is off the frame right now) the second picture is of the passenger side of the column, and the upper part is original column support and the lower part is from the new column, just cut and weld. this column is in there tight, dosent budge what so ever. As far as bolting it up to the gear box, like I said the cab is off the frame right now, but i dont fore see any problems with that.
All I have to worry about is the wireing, so if anyone has a wire scamatic for a 62 c-10 and a 93 blazer that would be great.

Re: S-10 steering column in a 62

Looking good . Are you planning to use the hand E-brake again? My 3 on the tree column comes out tomorrow and a tilt column from a automatic Nova is the option A. Thanks for the thread and pictures. Keep us posted on your progress
Did you have to trim any of the plastic from the column? Any trimming of the dash metal?

Re: S-10 steering column in a 62

Well I just finished wiring it up and it went smoother than I expected. I have the dimmer hooked up, blinkers, wind shield wipers, and the ignition switch hooked up in around 2 hr's. The only thing I dident hook up is the flashers, and I refuse to believe that a chevy will break down and leave me stranded.:
