Transfer Case check plug on my '87?
I just bought my first 4x4 this week, and I checked the trany and axle fluids, but I'm not sure how to check the tcase, and not sure of the location of the plug..... And it takes ATF, correct?

Re: Transfer Case check plug on my '87?
Hello to a fellow New Yorker. There is a large plug on the back of the transfer case. I think it's 1.25", but I wouldn't swear to it. Transfer case uses ATF. Where is Montgomery? jim

Use the top plug to check the oil level. You need a 1 3/16" socket or wrench to get it out.
This picture is a Dodge, but it's the same Tcase.

Re: Transfer Case check plug on my '87?
Montgomery is 2 hrs downstate from you, near newburgh.
Ill check the tcase fluid tomorrow, thanks guys. Just found out from driving it around that the leak between the transfer case and tranny is a BIG problem. I need to fix that ASAP. I'll look into what parts I'll need, the guy told me the tube that connects the two is cracked.... has anyone dealt with anything like that?
