Cab interchangeable??

I have a 1976 GMC rew cab and am wondering if I could swap it for a 1990 cab. Would it bolt in the same and front clip etc be able to be used? Thanks, I am looking to upgrade my current cab with rust issues..

Re: Cab interchangeable??

Anyone else know for sure?? I have located a cab that is reasoable and very close to home compared to the normal 1200-2000 miles away I normally find the rust free ones??? The seller is also thinking it is the same cab from 1973-1991.

Re: Cab interchangeable??

going with the theroy on the regular standard cab it will work... you will need to use the body mounts from your older truck tho...
You can use your clip but youll need to remove the cowl and make the holes for the hinges and youll have to remove the vin number from the new cab and attach your old one OR apply for a state police motorvehicle VIN

Re: Cab interchangeable??

IIRC you can use the newer cab with the older clip but not a older cab with a newer clip.

Re: Cab interchangeable??

From what I have been reading in other posts and replies, I think I am good, but want to make sure.

I have a 73 C10 short bed with a badly rusted cab. I have access to a 76 C20 long bed. All I need is the cab. Is a 76 C20 cab interchangeable with a 73 C10?

Thanks very much!
Bryan
