Dying interior parts?
Whats the best product out there for arm rest and door panels and stuff?
I used Color Bond from LMC. The arm rest came out shiney black and the door panels are kind of flat and spotty. Anything better? |

Re: Dying interior parts?
SEM works great. I get it from Eastwood, although many places carry it.

Re: Dying interior parts?
I have done my door panels and arm rests three times. The first two times with color bond and it peeled. To be fair I skimped on the prep work, stupid. The third time I used dupli-color (I was out of the color bond and did not want to re-order) and really cleaned and prepped well, I tried in a inconspicuous spot to scratch or peel it and I couldn't. Just go easy on the scotch brite pad or you can damage the grain

Re: Dying interior parts?
They way I apply it is just wash the panel with soap and water and let it dry in the sun, the apply the SEM coat.

Re: Dying interior parts?
The only thing I have to add is apply LIGHT coats. Don't just spray it on. Get your prep work done and clean and a few light coats should make it look how you want it.

Re: Dying interior parts?
I just bought some SEM over the weekend ( # 15173 - Camel) based on the recommendations of some other members. I will give it a try and post some pics of the finished product.

Re: Dying interior parts?
Make sure you use an adhesion promoter as well. That's very important.

Re: Dying interior parts?
I've decided to buy 0EM dash pad and door panels from Classic Parts outta Kansas. I haven't found OEM parts else where......Everything I've got from Classic has been scratched all to heck.
