whats up with my F#$#@ fuel gauge
I know these trucks dont have the best fuel gauges but im confused. It always seemed to work when it wanted to. As time went on it would be all over the place. Now it just sits all the way past E. I picked up another gauge but is it something other than the gauge?

its prolly the wire ontop of the sender on the tank you can usually get to the brown wie betweeen the bed and cab just try to jiggle it ans see if the contact is bad

Re: whats up with my F#$#@ fuel gauge
I agree with the bad ground- from the sender to the frame

Re: whats up with my F#$#@ fuel gauge
Yo! If the fuel needle is pegged beyong full, you have an open within the circuit. Either a break in the grounding to the truck frame (most common), or a break in the positive electrical supply to the sender. The fuel gauge is supplied with 12v+, a ground, and a lead to the sender. The sender has a lead from the gauge and a grounding lead. Grounds are a problem in this circuit, usually due to corrosion, or road damage. The sender lead can be damaged, or the plugin near the starter can corrode. This may help you track down the open.
