Been thinking about a Blazer....
So I have been seriously considering putting my 68' C10 up for sale in the next month or two, and have gone back and forth on what to replace it with. I have really enjoyed it, it is a well built truck and we've had some fun with it, and won a few awards as well. However, I am starting to get a little bored with it, and with 3 (sometimes 4) in my family it is pretty cramped to take out cruising if I'm not by myself. Beside that, I simply never put anything in the bed beyond a couple lawn chairs and an ice chest.....brought a Christmas tree home in it last year.
I just flat love these generation trucks....this is my 4th one to own, and the nicest so far. So with that in mind, it would be great if I could give up the bed space in exchange for some more seating/interior space. We've started thinking about a Suburban or Blazer from the same years....the wife and I both have always liked the 3-door Suburbans quite a bit, but they are a little more on the large side...not too bad though, and certainly not out of the question. Most recently, though, we have both really started paying attention to the Blazers....and especially the 71-72 models with the belt mouldings, etc. One of those would be just right for interior space, still a 2-door, and bonus on the removeable top! I think I would like to have a 2-wheel drive with about the same stance wheel/tire size that I have on my 68...but I realize that they are pretty rare to come-by. A 4x4 isn't out of the question either....just would have to be the right truck.....just not totally sure on that yet, and would have to think on it some more. Anyways, wanted to get some opinions from you guys that have owned them or had some experience with them....as I said, I've owned several trucks, but never a Blazer or Burb from that generation. What would be awesome is if I could find some guy out there that thinks he would rather have a truck instead of the back seat!

Re: Been thinking about a Blazer....
I have always loved the full convertible blazers and Jimmys. I would not trade for a truck, I love the extra room.

Re: Been thinking about a Blazer....
I had a Blazer for a while, a '71, and if I were to sell my '67 (which I won't) I would get a '71 or '72 Blazer. They do have a lot of room and the ride is a little choppy, but not bad, even with the 4WD.

Sure is....where did you find that pic? That is an older one that a friend of mine took a while back. His camera changed the shade of blue....this is a more recent one with a much more accurate representation of the color.....

Re: Been thinking about a Blazer....
I think a blazer is a convertible for A man with good taste, never could pick a car that suited me like my 72 blazer, My 3yr old daughter loves cruising in it, the ride is choppy but I dont mind most times, sure turns heads too!!

Re: Been thinking about a Blazer....
So when you guys say the ride is choppy....is it just that it is firm with the shorter wheelbase? Probably not going to ride any worse than my 68 does right now - no?

Re: Been thinking about a Blazer....
I had this 72 and loved it. It was a little bit of a pain with keeping the top sealed up, but it was really great in the summer. I wouldn't mind having a 2wd to be able to take the family out in.

Re: Been thinking about a Blazer....
I've owned a 64 Chevy, a 66 GMC, a 72 Chevy, and a 70 Chevy, as well as a few newer Chevys. All of them were fun pickups. When I started looking around for the vehicle I wanted to keep, I looked at trucks and muscle cars spanning a lot of years. I ended up deciding on a 72 Blazer 4X4. I haven't regretted it for a minute.
The ride isn't really bad, considering it's a short wheelbase 4X4. I use mine as a daily driver, and I had my spine fused a year ago. Driving around with the top off is a blast. I have a 60/40 split bench in front, so I have seat belts for six passengers. I can't see me ever giving my Blazer up. |

Wow! Very similar....and nice! Funny I almost went back and two-toned the top of my truck with the white too.

Re: Been thinking about a Blazer....
I think I would lean more towards a 2WD if I get serious. I like the 4x4's too, but this would be to replace my 68' as a pure cruiser, so it would be seeing on-road good weather driving mostly.
Besides that, my daily is a 4x4....and I use it as such whenever I need.
