Factory Paint Schemes

I didn't know if this should be dropped in the Historical topic but because of the major differances between the GMC and Chevy truck line on painting, I though it would be cool to create a general paint topic. YOu can put in any factual infor you have so folks can get a better idea on how to restore back to factory scheme.

Example both truck lines were painted the same when it came to all one color, but a lot of folks do not know that if you have a Chevy with a two-tone paint scheme, the dark color was on top. As seen in the Chevy picture

On GMC it was reversed with white being on top.

Re: Factory Paint Schemes

Cool I thaught that my 62 chevy was a 2 tone, only the roof and around the glass is white. Did diffrent years have diffrent schemes? The data plate on the kick plate has STD stamped for trim and 353D for paint any clues on decodeing?

Re: Factory Paint Schemes

The Canada versions of the truck for GMC followed the Chevy Paint Scheme like so. Which BTW look's really good with the Black and White Paint pattern.
