Rear drums on '71 K20
I have a floating axle. I have removed the axle shaft flange and now i'm trying to remove the outer lock ring. I bought a Napa spindle wrench (#2770) but it's not great. Any tricks to get it off, so that I can remove the drums. I trying to replace the wheel cylinders and get the drums turned.

Re: Rear drums on '71 K20
That's strange, I took my C20 apart last night to do wheel cylinders! It's the first time I've worked on these heavier rear ends, I was expecting to pull the wheel off and slide off the drums. Not so much.
Anyway, I obviously didn't have the wrench needed, since I wasn't expecting that, but I simply used a hammer and a punch. Maybe it's not the recomended way, but worked fine for me. |
