12 cyl GMC in action
I remember someone posting on here recently trying to get ideas for using one of those double inline v6 motors in a project. Here is a pretty crazy one i saw over on the HAMB. Looks like it started out life as a COE but is a whole nother beast now!

Re: 12 cyl GMC in action

Re: 12 cyl GMC in action
looks like there is some kind of transfer case in the second picture to get the power to the rear end.

Re: 12 cyl GMC in action
not a tcase, front wheel drive tranny for a sideway mounted motor. they just weld the diff and block off the other output.
and i like the truck, i just think the 702 are dirt ugly Last edited by 2tons of fun; 11-26-2009 at 12:47 AM. |

Re: 12 cyl GMC in action
I was interested in those motors until I found the peak HP, torque and redline all occured at about 2,500 rpm. they were mostly used for industrial stuff like irrigation pumps. There is a web site dedicted to them.

Re: 12 cyl GMC in action
Might be an Eldorado or Toronado transmission. I just like it because for a rat rod it is different. IMO rat rods usually don't make much sense and are just old school mechanical artwork that you can drive.

Re: 12 cyl GMC in action
They also used those motors in large fire trucks... and I would imagine other large commercial applications too.
