Carburator Spacers

Do they work?

Depends on your application. What engine, need all specs, stroker, inches, what intake, carb, camshaft, etc. In some cases they can cause a low end torque loss. Just depends on what you are running.

.06 bore, Weinald Aluminum Dual plane Intake, Lift intake - .420 exhaust = .443 Headers, all on a 350.

I say do it!! its cheap and easy and if u feel tha gains GREAT if not they u can always just take it off

I say give it a shot, you may feel a slight increase in performance, maybe even throttle response. You should at least get something out of it... at least more than someone putting a spacer on a direct injected engine. (I see this question almost daily on the Jeep forums I am on... ).

The spacers are made for different applications. The phenolic and wood ones are for keeping heat off of the carb bowls and they work great for that. The ones with spiral cuts in them (usually made of aluminum) work great to break up the carb's fuel/air mixture and create a better mix for the cylinders to burn--however, there is no insulation here. I am running a 1" phenolic four holed spacer on my stroker motor and it made a difference in my heat-soak issue on the carb, and I think I gained a little in flow due to the extra plenum area.

NOTE----get a spacer that you will gain from---EXAMPLE: An open plenum spacer will give you volume at high RPMS but you will lose performance in the low and middle operating ranges due to a loss of velocity in your air/fuel flow. A spacer with the four holes will keep the velocity up and make your lower end performance better, but may curb the higher end performance---buy for what you want.

You may have to tune your carb, due to the change in venturi flow.

i was interested in one as well, would this be one to try? i have a Performer EPS manifold with a Edelbrock 600 cfm carb. this spacer isn't too expensive, and comes with everything needed.

That one looks a lot like the ones that I put on my trucks. Iused the Edelbrock carb spacer, but that one is an exact double for them. I have a local guy that sells to me at his cost, so I save the freight.

do they seem to work ok? ya i compared that spacer to the edelbrock spacer, and the only difference is the edelbrock doesn't come with gaskets and hardware.

I totally agree! Before spacer ( laminated wood 1/2") carb (edelbrock 1406) was very hot to touch afterwards it was lots cooler.

I had to buy the gaskets at OReilly's, but the bolts were in the pack with the spacer. I am running a 383 stroker motor with an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and an AVS 650 CFM carb. It works quite well. I have one on the workbench to put on the Son's truck, so I can stop the heat soak issues in it, next summer. This is the engine W/O the spacer.

That engine doesn't have tassles, but it does have bright shiney things that go around and around when you push the Loud Pedal. (Wheels) That is my stroker motor in my avatar truck.

I used one of these hvh spacers on my 496 big block that's in my chevelle. I picked up 17 horse on the engine dyno but it also moved the peak up a few rpms which I didn't mind anyway.
