Re: Daily Drivers
Driven most of the time, about 6-8K per year. Insured as my primary vehicle. Included is a shot I call "midnight auto" taken during the 355/350 heart transplant! Original survivor I got at 82K now has about 170K on it.

Re: Daily Drivers
My DD is an '08 silverado. I wish I had never gotten used to new vehicles but I've had too many for too long. I tried going back for awhile with my '87 swb and wasn't ready for the committment. I can't afford to be stranded or worry about how I'm going to make a business trip. I know the old ones can be just as reliable but it takes more effort than I can give right now. Plus the quiet ride, being able to actually hear on a phone call and such become "necessities".
Sometimes I remember when I drove my '71 all over kingdom come without a worry and wonder how I did it. I guess it's easier to replace a water pump on the side of the highway when you don't have a boss, wife, and kids Someday I hope to get back into an older DD. I commend you guys for doing it, especially OrrieG with the malibu! Yep, I'm a wuss. Please don't revoke my man card.

Re: Daily Drivers
LEEVON, no worries on revoking your man card. The wife knows I want a older pickup for a DD and SHE IS NOT HAVING IT. She said,"you just bought a project (my 54) and now I know your going to get this and fix it all up and stuff. Plus we live in NYC, there is no hay or timber to lug around, what the hell do you need a pickup for".
My answer, just like them and also would have been easier to toss the xmas tree in the bed rather than strap it the roof of your VW jetta. |

Re: Daily Drivers
Yeah, NY was my last duty station. I was at Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh NY. There was only about 200 or so Marines there. It's right next to Orange County Choppers. I love Ny, however, winters are to rough. 5 mile runs in the snow are.....well, they suck! There's just something wrong about the sweat on your forehead freezing.

Re: Daily Drivers
SGT, Newburgh is beautiful. Running in the snow for that long sucks! I live about 1 hour south just outside NYC. Winters are tough here, although not as bad as our northern states.
Sounds cliche, but thank you for protecting our country! |

Re: Daily Drivers
Sgt, I'm wondering; does your truck ever see the dirt or mud?

Re: Daily Drivers
Nick...hahaha not as much as I'd like. I get a hard time from guy's about the polished wheels. I bought them on Ebay for $250. That's 4-17" rims and 4 Procomp 35" muds for $250. I'm okay with dirt, hills and rocks. I just hate the washing part of the mud-fun.

Re: Daily Drivers
I ask because I see so many nice looking lifted trucks up here in WA that never see the anything near off road. I call those guys urban cowboys. Regardless your's is a nice looking truck and that's a sweet deal on the wheels and tires.
