side swing tail gate ??

I know it can be done but in the long run will the hinges hold up to daily use
I'm going to shave my tail lights so hinge room is not a issue
just wanted here from anybody that did it or has seen one
pic's would help

The old ford station wagons (60's early 70's) had tailgates that would open either way. Either drop down like a conventional tailgate or by flipping a lever swing open to the left.

from what I've read after 83-84 they no longer put the hole/nut in the body for you to bolt them on my 90 has not spots or even a dimple of where they would mount plus I'm guessing there is no reinforcement where it go's

maybe use some suicide door hinges, but you may have to reinforce it because that thing is going to be heavy out on the end.

how bout a split, not sure how he did it, but at a show i run i see a s10 size with a split rear door,and i moved the mirror over on the glass a bit to move the blind spot
