hello from mid-missouri
just wanted to say hi,
I am getting back into the 47-54 cehvy trucks again. I have been building rock crawlers for many years and traded for a ready to be modded 50 model the other day. plans include an lt4, 4l60e, grafting the ifs out of a 96 cehvy caprice and 4 linking the rear with a chevy 10 bolt on air ride. i plan on chopping 2 1/2 inches out of the front top and 1 inch out of the rear. for wheels I plan on some 18 inch steelies and machining some salt flat hubcaps to fit. so, I just wanted to say hi and later I will post up pics as I start this build. |

Re: hello from mid-missouri
Well,
I have been busy, but not on my 50 model. I have been finishing up some rock buggies and my tube chassis. I have rethought my plans and now the truck will get a 454 machined and stroked to a 496 (only about 550 hp) with a 4l80e. I have purchased all these and sold my lt1 and 4l60. the reason for the change is wanted more power and less wiring and problems. I am really wanting the cruiser / rat rod look. Still plan on some steelies with salt flat caps and still plan on using the caprice front frame section. I have everything ready to go except for me. I will start working on it soon, as the bug is driving me nuts. I plan on this being my daily driver and cruiser. I will post pics of what I am starting out with next weekend |

Re: hello from mid-missouri
Welcome also.
Have you measured the "track width" of the Caprice front suspension? Won't it be too wide?
