Bagged trucks in snow? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Some of you may have seen this on another forum but need people opinion. I want to travel to a winter cruze this weekend but they are calling for snow and already sprayed the roads with the salt mix. Wondering if I wash it off when I get home will it be ok. I am not worried about traveling in the snow but I am worried about the slag damaging my bags or fittings and hoses. Down here in the south the weather says snow and everyone freaks out and the state sprays the road and then it just rains and get all over peoples cars but I usually wash mine off to prevent corrosion. Just wondering if anyone has done this and had no problems.

You will be fine I had a Semi truck I ran all over the country and up into canada and the road salt and mag water never hurt the air bags,lines or valves.

You should be fine, as Dad's a trucker and hasn't washed it for a year or two and all suspension and air components are good to go.

If you're worried about it, wash it off when you get home.

Thanks guys, I want new valves but would rather not mess the current ones up to get new ones. I don't think it will snow but even rain will sling that crap all over my truck.
The things we go through to have fun and hang out with other custom car owners!?

Only problem you might have in the freezing temp would be the valves freezing up. If you dont have water traps, drain everything before you leave. Hell i would drain it anyway. My girl used to get so pissed when she would jump in her S10 to leave for work and her valves would freeze open.

I havn't ever used any of the antifreeze they make for air lines, supposed to be good stuff though.

I tried this morning, made down the road until I had to go up a hill to exit my neighborhood and it was not happening. Pissed me off so I shoveled snow most of the day and the city finally cleaned my road about 2pm but to late then so I just grabbed a cold one. Thanks for all your input.
