700r4 question
Im looking into buying a 700r4 out of a 92 S10 with 133000 miles on it. will this need to be beefed up to run behind my 400 small blocl (350+hp/400+ftlbs) and is there going to be any issues with linkage, lenght, or speedo hook up?

Re: 700r4 question
There is no difference in the V8 or V6 transmissions as far as strength is concerned. I would highly recommend having it rebuilt with the 9 clutch 3-4 clutch pack, Kevlar Band and larger boost valve. I would also replace the sun shell with the newer hardened one. You will have to get a front drive shaft yoke to fit it the transmission, (TH350 and TH700 are the same), shorten the drive shaft approximately 2.5 inches if you are still using a TH400, install a Throttle Valve cable to the carburetor, install a throttle valve bracket on the intake or carburetor, relocate your cooler lines to fit the trans, and move the frame cross member to the rear for the mount. If it is a 92 with a mechanical speedometer, you can use your existing speedometer cable but the speedometer gears will have to be calibrated to your specific differential ratio.

Re: 700r4 question
You are going to spend from $1000-1800 on parts and trans rebuild and 600-1000 on labor unless you do it yourself.
