getting rid of blocks...what size spring?

I have a 6" lift on my 69 blazer - it has front leaf springs and rear springs with blocks...

To get rid of the blocks - what size rear springs do I need to level it off? There is a set of 6" lift rear leafs on the FS board and I was hoping to use them to ditch the blocks and get a smoother ride...

6" front and 4" rear - from memory?

Thx for your help!

If you really want a smoother ride i would do a shackle flip. It's a little more work, but not much. 6" springs ride like crap no matter what brand they are in my experience. i had skyjackers on my '76 and the truck bounced all over the place, my friends girlfriend has rough country 6" springs on her 78 and same thing. my experience is with trucks, but i imagine a blazer would be very similar. but if i were you, i would do a shackle flip, and 2" lift springs.

On skyjacker lifts they do 6" front with 8" rear, and so on.
(on blazers, but not pickups)

Thanks for the education, i never knew that. So with that in mind to level the truck you might have to do a shackle flip, plus 4" springs. But that would still ride alot better than 6" springs and especially better than 8" springs. 8" springs are practically half circles.

Re: getting rid of blocks...what size spring?

I HAVE A 70 BLAZER WITH A 4 INCH ON IT. WANTED TO DO THE SAME GET RID OF THE BLOCKS. SO I ORDERED 4 INCH SPRINGS FOR THE REAR. SUPERLIFT. THEY WERENT EVEN CLOSE. SO I ORDERED THE 6 INCH. THEY WERE THE RIGHT SIZE BUT THE REAR AXLE WAS PUSHED FORWARD. SO I HAD TO GET A zero-rate lift to move the axle back were it was orginal at. So after all that it rides like a tank still. Shackle flip might b the way to go. the zero-rate i found on off-road design http://offroaddesign.com/catalog/Zero%20Rates.htm hope that helps.

Re: getting rid of blocks...what size spring?

Yeah and you'll need the zero rate for sure if you go shackle flip. on 56" springs the center pin is offset about 1 1/2 inches. when i switched from 52" springs to 56" springs it actually solved my problem of the axle being too far forward and i didn't need the zero rates anymore, but i kept them in for ride height. Its possible that if you order lift springs for a newer chevy truck, they'll be 56" and the pin will be offset. I just don't know that for sure.

Re: getting rid of blocks...what size spring?

pre-made spring packs are built to pick-up weight specs not Blazers.
I run 4" front w/ 5.5" rear SuperLift Superride, the super ride has more leafs & the more leafs the smoother and flexyer you will be.
