I really like it. Has that vintage late 70's early 80's vibe with the accessories and white steelies. Do you have a pic of all the accessories under your dash? I am curious what all that is. Trevor

Under the dash I have the radio/CD player head unit with a CB unit below it. Next to that I have a gauge cluster with temp, volt, and oil pressure (the stock gauges work, but I like to have a second opinion!). Next to the gauge cluster is my Gear Vendors overdrive toggle switch. Next to be added is A/C, and a vintage Hickey Sidewinder winch I picked up a couple years ago. |

I love looking at pics of this truck! I have the post from last May saved in my bookmarks and I must've gone back and looked at that thread a thousand times. Damn this makes me wanna get my tub-o-rust done. Great looking truck! I'm jealous.

Looks awesome. Seeing yours on all the road trips really got me goin to get mine on the road. I have been driving it as my daily for the last 5 months. The Bronco looks good too.

It has a 6 inch lift with Superlift springs on all corners. I removed one leaf from each of the front packs (second from the bottom) to level it off and soften the ride. Rims are 16.5 x 9.75 with 5.5 inches of backspacing. These came off the rear of two early seventies 3/4ton Custom Campers. The tires are 35 x 12.50 x 16.5 Parnelli Jones Dirt Gripz that measured a true 35 inches when new. I did some very minor trimming on the front fender "fangs" to allow for no rubbing during full steering lock and suspension compression. |

The Gear Vendors unit was very easy to install. When I found it, it was bolted behind a TH400, so I had to locate the NP205 adapter (found it on ebay). After that it just bolts onto the back of the NP205 case. I did have to cut off my spring perches and re-weld them to rotate the pinion up so it pointed at the Gear Vendor output shaft. Due to the angle at the output shaft end (11 degrees), I had to use a CV joint with a 400 series (32-spline) slip yoke. Found that mid 80's Cadillacs used these (1310 Series), so I pulled one from a bone yard, took it to my driveline shop and had them make me a rear driveshaft. Everything works great. Having the overdrive is the best improvement I think I have ever made to the truck. |
