Re: '86 Big Blue and the 6.0 swap
Oil pan is on. There is one bolt hole on the pan that does not have a corresponding hole on the block. Is that okay to leave alone. The pan is from gmpartsdirect.

Re: '86 Big Blue and the 6.0 swap
no progress yet. i pulled the old TPI motor out and have been collecting parts while waiting on the body work. my brother in law is the body man. i have the 6.0, 4l80e, pypes exhaust, 87 efi tank and sending unit, motor mounts, and a few other parts already.
I am going from a long bed to short bed at the same time. lots of fun for my summer project. I have already done a ls1 into a 69 camaro so i have an idea of what i have ahead of me

Re: '86 Big Blue and the 6.0 swap
crap, more money spent. cost more than i figured to convert my 4L80E from 4wd to 2wd.
Then I will have to figure out how hook up the driveshaft.

Re: '86 Big Blue and the 6.0 swap
my tran is from a 4wd and to convert it to a 2wd is going to set me back total, $700.00.
thankfully the trans only has 25,000 on it. also worked out who i am going to send my harness to, Nelson Performance in San Antonio, Tx. just couldn't get straight answers from Wait4meperformance.

Re: '86 Big Blue and the 6.0 swap
so, i was watching an episode of trucks yesterday and the guys were building an LSX. it is very tempting to put a carb on my lq4. it look sooooooo good sitting on that eldebrock intake, sitting on that LSX.
also think i have found a set of 3.42 ring and pinion and a posi unit for my truck

Re: '86 Big Blue and the 6.0 swap
Engine looks great. If it were me I'd leave the fuel injection on the engine. With a tune and no emissions 400hp and 20 MPG would be freakin awesome.

Re: '86 Big Blue and the 6.0 swap
yep, me too buddy. i have a local buddy that went through them. he hasnt even open the box yet so i havent seen the work but they seem to be very thorough. you pay the same as the bigger companys but get a better (more complete) job. (I HOPE!)
he was even saying he's thinking of offering a 'cheap' bare minimum harness mod also. he is backed up 2 weeks so just have patience and hang in there and i'll give you a review of the work.

Re: '86 Big Blue and the 6.0 swap
I've got plety of time. I am still deciding on final gear ratio, stock clutch fan of dual electric fans and a couple more decisions that will have an impact on how the harness has to be set up.
Like I said the other day. There is a big difference in price from stock tune of the ecm and the performance tune. What I like about Nelson and Current is they set the fuse box, all relays everything.

Re: '86 Big Blue and the 6.0 swap
Are you planning on keeping the A/C? Those fans are too wide to fit the stock radiator, and the radiator is too wide to be able to use the OEM condenser. I considered using that radiator with mine, but the added cost of buying an aftermarket condenser and fab time to fit the radiator made be stay with the stock rad.
