re: backspacing on mustang II airide and update
Hey guys what backspacing are you using on the mustang front ends with 2-inch drop spindles and bagged.. I got a wheel that has 31/2 under it now and it looks like its going to take at least 51/2 backspacing on the front..
Here's an update on my 53 got the 9-inch narrowed on the passenger side and the 15x10 smoothies waiting on the 4-link kit and bags and mounting brackets, along with the tires for the rear 255/60R15 2 3/4 wide white walls.. should have it hooked up in the truck in a couple of weeks.. I have a buddie in Midland that is a boat mechanic and I stay in touch with since high school and see him during deer season as we have leases that are 30 minutes from each other, he stay with me about a month ago and saw my 53 and said he had the perfect engine, transmission for me.. 95 police interceptor/caprice was totaled at 37k wants what he got it for 1000.00 been on this crate for 5 or so years just sitting around at his shop, was going to use it for a project but things changed,, what a deal.. here's the pics... |

Looks clean. thoes lt's are decent little motors. I have one in my '38 and its hard to keep it hooked. too bad that one doesn't have the alumnium heads. Oh well, should still run great

Re: backspacing on mustang II airide and update
Have looked up the vin numbers and it rated at 340 hp I think with an K&n air filter and exhaust and tinkering with the fuel and timing I should get about 380hp out of it,, yea I wish it had the alumnium head but the little more weight will help the air ride up front smooth out,, thats also why I decided to box the whole frame to add weight to it and stiffen it up so it wont twist the frame,, and the stock frames without the boxing are weak..just stand on the running boards and watch the flex with just your weight, boxed they dont move and I plan on putting my foot in it hard some times..hehe

Re: backspacing on mustang II airide and update
Dont mean to burst your bubble but Im pretty sure those were rated at 260hp.
Regardless, thats should be a killer drivetrain. I had a 96 9c1 for a little while because I thought I was gona use it for a donor car and it sure had some pep in it, and those things are huge! |
