Which knob did you have that was giving you trouble? I know my 8 ball had a bit of stickyness to it but I really found once it was adjusted and set up it worked great on my 700R.
If I remember right I think you have to push the button from drive to neutral also. I think that is what drove me nuts. I had the brushed alloy, bought the plain black knob.
