Anyone moved the stock gastank to inside bed??

I dont like it in there, but have very limited funds, so I was thinking of moving my stock tank into the bed, up against the bulkhead, and building a box around it.

That gives me alittle more space inside the cab too.

Anyone moved their stock tank????

I never have but if done right it would look pretty clean. And you've always done things right in every build I've seen. Would it be cased in and the filler cap mounted into the top of the enclosure or the bedside?

I plan to do that.
I will have a permanent tank in a hellhole behind the cab and leave the stock mounts etc inside.
That way if I head out for a cross country run, I can install a tank back inside for twice the onboard capacity.
I plan to use a dual tank selector.
A second stock bulkhead in the bed will make it hardly noticed.

I have a long way to go to get a finished truck though.
and an Edsel on deck before the truck.

i have two saddle tanks for a long bed. my truck has 3 tanks in it. one in the cab and two behind the bed

What I really want to do, but cant right now is, hide the tank in a cutdown vintage soda cooler, like a rusty old Coke cooler or similar.

Ive seen it done and its cool, and follows the old shoptruck type look I like so much.

But, likely what i'll do for now is just build a wooden box out of old weathered wood, to match the bed floor, and put a hinged lid on.
Kinda like a old toolbox that may have been put there years ago.

Maybe search out some old wooden crates with neat stamped wording to use...

Sounds like a cool idea. I Think it would look cool if you made a wooden "tool box" that actually had a fuel tank in it. You could easily make a 40 gal tank tht sat in the bottom of it and had a filler neck up one, or even both sides (never worry about where the available pump is). You could then even have enough room to have storage space on top of it. If it where my truck I would keep the box top about level with the bed side. The only thing that may be tricky is the sending unit. You could get one that goes to a fuel cell and make a tank that uses the same verticle dimension.

I know I went way off the budget aspect, but I was on a roll

Oh, and I'd look for produce crates, ther are usually a little beat up, but not rotten.

Yeah, at my former workplace, we had these *****en old wooden crates that large gearboxes and pumps came in and went out for rebuild.

They were really old and had the companys name burned in. I wish I woulda snagged a few of those when the plant closed....

Thats the direction Im going.

I may make it look like a tool box. I am leaning the "pushtruck" direction with this one.

What? The white one on it now?

Its a crazy big monster bumper, but its twisted pretty bad.

I dont know what Im going to do yet.

I'm likely to build a removable bracket set-up with wood planks like used in the 60s as push trucks at racetracks and Bonneville.
