Just did one Friday. Here's how it went in my truck, it is an automatic 2wd though:

1) Drain oil, remove pan bolts
2) Remove fan
3) Unbolt engine mounts
4) Hoist engine up 3" or so
5) Slide oil pan out
6) Remove oil pump
7) Remove lower rear main bearing cap
8) Remove seal
9) Clean, clean clean
10) Replace seal (offset a bit)
11) Replace cap w/ seal (offset a bit, small amt of sealant, torque to 70 ft lbs)
12) Replace oil pump, torque to 115 in lbs
13) Replace gasket and pan
14) Replace mount bolts and fan

Clean up giant mess!
